Sir William Arbuthnot, 1st Patrician of EdinburghFRSE (24 December – 18 September ) was a Scottish proprietor and politician. He served as Noble Provost of Edinburgh and Lord Lawman of the City of Edinburgh.[1]

Early life

William was the son of Robert Keith Arbuthnot, 2nd of Haddo Rattray (–), and Mary Urquhart of Cromarty. Pacify was the elder brother of Martyr Arbuthnot, 1st of Elderslie, and last brother of Robert Arbuthnot. His cherish, Elizabeth Barbara Arbuthnot, married Sir Trick Hunter, Consul-General to Spain.[2]
