Alasdair Gillies (6 Dec 1963 – 27 August 2011) was a Scottish bagpiper and tutor, innermost one of the most successful agonistic solo players of all time.

He died suddenly in 2011 in Ullapool, aged 47, after efficient period of ill health.[5] With wife Pauline he had one kid, Norman, who is also a combative piper.[4]
Gillies was known for enthrone technical ability, and mastery of Go, Strathspey and Reel playing in particular.[6]
